FlashCard Magic Enterprise School
Edition is designed to be deployed in a client/server configuration. In this
configuration, the FlashCard Magic Database is installed on only one
computer (referred to as the server) providing a central repository
for FlashCard Magic data. Students can then use FlashCard
Magic from any computer that has FlashCard Magic installed and that
has a network connection to the database server. Teachers can also
generate reports and math worksheets from any computer.
It should be noted that the term “server” in the context used here
refers to the computer on which the database is installed. The
computer does not have to be running a “server” operating system.

Addtional Notes: |
|
If Windows NT or 2000 Server is used, you should review the End-User
License Agreement for Windows 2000 to determine whether each client
workstation requires a Client Access License. For further
information, please refer to http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/Default.asp.
Windows NT, 2000 Workstation and Windows XP Professional each
contain a 10 session connection limit. For this reason, it is
recommended that the Database Server Computer not be used for any
purpose other than to host the FlashCard Magic database. FlashCard
Magic will only “connect” to the database server when accessing the
database and will then immediately disconnect. This allows more that
10 students to be using FlashCard Magic because the likelihood of 10
students simultaneously accessing the database is relatively low. If
the situation does occur where a connection to the server is not
available, FlashCard Magic will reattempt the connection until it is
successful. This may result in a slight delay in the FlashCard Magic
application but will never result in lost data.
Windows XP Home Edition imposes a 5 session connection limit and is
therefore only recommended for evaluation purposes.
